This policy explains what personal information the Texas DPSOA Online Store collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have kept it short on purpose.
Who we are
This store is operated by the Texas DPS Officers Association ("DPSOA", "we", "us"), 5821 Airport Boulevard, Austin, TX 78752, United States. We are the business responsible for the personal information described here.
Phone: (512) 451-0571 · Email: salesteam@dpsoa.store
What we collect
- Order information — your name, shipping and billing address, email address, phone number, and what you bought.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processors. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last four digits of the card. We never see or store your full card number.
- Account information — if you create an account: your login details and, if you tell us, your DPSOA membership type, division, member number, and duty station.
- Messages you send us — anything you include when you contact us or ask to be notified when an item is back in stock.
- Usage information — pages viewed, items viewed, device and browser type, and IP address, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Why we use it
- To take, fulfill, ship, and support your orders, and to handle returns and exchanges.
- To verify DPSOA membership so member pricing is applied to the right people.
- To send order and account notifications, and — only if you ask for them — marketing emails.
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To understand how the store is used so we can improve it.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with organizations that help us run the store, and only for that purpose:
- Shopify, which hosts this store and processes orders.
- Payment processors, to take payment.
- Shipping carriers and fulfillment partners, to deliver your order.
- Email and analytics providers, to send notifications and measure how the store performs.
- Advertising platforms, including Google and Meta, as described below.
We also disclose information where the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights, our members, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
Advertising, and how to opt out
We use advertising and analytics tools from Google and Meta that set cookies and share limited information about your visit with those companies so we can show DPSOA store advertising and measure whether it works. Under Texas and several other state privacy laws, this kind of sharing can count as a "sale" or as "targeted advertising" even when no money changes hands.
You can opt out at any time using our Your Privacy Choices page, or by emailing us. You can also refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the store may not work properly if you do.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act — you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Correct information that is inaccurate.
- Have your information deleted.
- Opt out of targeted advertising and of the sharing described above.
- Appeal if we decline your request.
To exercise any of these, email salesteam@dpsoa.store or call (512) 451-0571. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within the time the law allows. We will not treat you differently for exercising a right. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response; if the appeal is denied, you may contact the Texas Attorney General.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting, tax, warranty, and legal purposes. Account and marketing information is kept until you close your account or unsubscribe, after which we delete or de-identify it unless we are required to keep it.
Security
Payments are encrypted in transit and handled by PCI-compliant processors. We restrict access to personal information to people who need it to do their jobs. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive information — such as card numbers — to us by email.
Children
This store is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you.
